The Caribbean American Poetry Association (CAPA) and the South Huntington Public Library (SHPL) invite you to a Poetry Reading and Book Signing to celebrate National Caribbean American Heritage Month.
The event will be held at the South Huntington Public Library, 145 Pidgeon Hill Road, Huntington Station, NY 11746
The celebration will include performances by several award-winning poets:
– Abraham “Honest A.b.e” Benjamin: An author and musician from Grenada.
– Burnett Coburn: A novelist and prolific dramatist from Jamaica.
– Empress Poetry: An award-winning Barbadian-born, Brooklyn-based author and performer.
– Berkley Wendell Semple: A fiction writer, literary reviewer, and librarian from Guyana.
The event will also feature an authors’ table with poetry books from both CAPA-member poets and our guest authors. Live entertainment will be provided by Praises in Steel, a steelpan ensemble and ministry band from St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cambria Heights, New York. Their presentations will showcase vibrant calypso and reggae styles from Trinidad and Tobago.
