The not-for-profit Sabrina Navaretta Memorial Foundation Dog Adoption, formerly known as Homes by Mara Realty Dog Adoption, was renamed this year by Sabrina’s parents of Woodbury as a tribute to their daughter, also of Woodbury and a Syosset High School alumnus, because of her strong passion for dog rescues. Funds for the Sabrina Navaretta Memorial Foundation will be raised during this Dog Adoption through dog vendor sponsors, who will be provided on-site presence with signage. For anyone interested in learning about sponsorships, registering as a sponsor, and/or receiving more details about this Dog Adoption, please email sabnavevents@gmail.com.
Generating additional dog rescue participation in the Foundation’s first Dog Adoption has been Syosset High School Dog Rescue Club’s Co-Advisors, Jodie Cohen and Dana Kaplan, who have contacted other dog rescues they have worked with over the past 10 years. As a result, the following 501c dog rescue organizations are taking part: Ollie’s Angels, Yorkie 911, Paws of War, Last Hope, and SPCA. Additionally, Syosset High School Dog Rescue Club is donating to each not-for-profit dog rescue group involved in the Foundation’s first Dog Adoption this year.
Founded by her parents, John and Mara Navaretta of Woodbury, the Sabrina Navaretta Memorial Foundation was established in June 2023 following Sabrina’s tragic passing in a car accident This not-for-profit supports a wide range of charitable causes including high school senior scholarship awards, assistance to families grieving the loss of a child or sibling, donations to the Syosset Dog Rescue Club, and contributions to environmental organizations that protect local waterways Additionally, the Foundation gives annually a scholarship to a graduating Syosset High School senior member of the Syosset Dog Rescue Club.
